Aspire : photographer
Aspire is a world class Anglo-American Professional Arts Photographer and
Artist currently based in the Cotswolds but very soon relocating to
Cornwall. Now using digital photography and graphics as tools to express his
work, Aspire has opted for the time being at least to experiment with
Digital. He has decided to keep on to his own, to stand away from the rigid
rules of photography and therefore explore other ways of expression. |

Made Gama Adnyana : wood carver and sculptor
From the village of Siangan in Bali, Made Gama Adnyana studied woodcarving at school and now creates his own designs out of local hardwood. This piece, known affectionately as Tanya, was donated to the project by Alan Harris of Truro's Gili Trading who commissioned the piece.

Paul Abbitt : photographer
Award-winning photographer Paul Abbitt, graduated from Falmouth
College of Arts in 2001. His highly stylised images of bathers
taking a dip year-round on Cornish beaches inspired a complete
feature in Cornwall Today Magazine. Based in Cornwall, he is now
freelance.

Simon is one of Cornwall's leading news and PR
photographers. From his base in Truro he undertakes regular news,
features and corporate assignments. A keen diver, he is also involved
in marine and underwater still and moving camera work. Simon photographed

Maela Le Nen Davey : model
'Maëla Le Nen Davey is an international Fashion Model, who
works with some of the world's top designers in Sydney, Australia
and London. She first featured on Parisian Catwalks in January
2005.
After a close family member was diagnosed with Breast Cancer
during her childhood, it has remained an issue close to heart,
which is why when hearing of this project Maëla was keen to
produce some very special images which depict her emotions' |

Karl Dallas : writer
Karl Dallas started writing poetry while still at school, influenced by Kenneth Patchen, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Paul Éluard and Pablo Neruda. He is best known as a songwriter (The Family of Man) whose songs have been recorded by the Liverpool Spinners, Ewan MacColl, and the Dransfields. He is a peace activist, whose activities have taken him to Palestine (twice) and Iraq, where he was a Human Shield volunteer in 2003. Born in London, he now lives in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Di Darbyshire : artist
Di trained in Graphic Design at Epsom School of Art but eventually lost heart with graphics and painted
furniture for a time. She found her real vocation when she had her two "fab (but hard work)" kids, Charlie and Millie.
Now absorbed by the need to paint again, Di is enjoying a second childhood painting and "generally being Valerie Singleton" with
her kids... Her contribution to the book depicts her breastfeeding her daughter several years ago. |

Liam & Geraldine Dorcey : glass artists
Continually exploring new avenues and techniques, Liam and Geri
came up with A Bowl of Nipples for the project. Like the rest of
their work it is the fruit of a large dose of lateral thinking
with no mean amount of tinkering. They are currently exploring
the possibilities of recycling domestic glass waste in their art.

Victoria Field : poet
After studying and lecturing in psychology at the University of Sussex, Victoria joined the British Council and worked in cultural and educational affairs in Istanbul, Moscow and Pakistan. Now living in Cornwall as a trainee Poetry Therapist, Victoria is able to combine her interest in psychology with her love of literature. She works with many different groups and organisations and her poems have been widely published in magazines such as Haiku Quarterly, Poetry London, Poetry Wales, The North and Staple. Olga’s Dreams is her first full collection. |

Zoe-Elissa George : graphic designer
Since graduating in June 2005 from Falmouth College of Arts with
a BA(Hons) in Graphic Design, Zoe has been working freelance as
a graphic designer; producing websites and print based
media.
Zoe said: "Collaborating on this book was close to my heart
as both my grandmother and great grandmother suffered from breast
cancer and it's important that we all take notice."

Thomas Richards : artist
An interest in fine art, took Thomas to Falmouth College of Art
in 1999 before going on to gain a first from University of Brighton
in Theatre and Visual Art. Dancer Laurie Booth commissioned him
for the set of "Ice, Dreams, Fire" which
staged in Brighton, London and Glasgow to critical acclaim in 2004.
Thomas draws inspiration for his work from diverse sources
and has a studio in East London. |

Shortly heading off to study in London, Polly recently completed
her A-Level in art at Falmouth School where the piece she submitted
for the book formed part of her end or year display. Her work was
part of a body described as "particularly impressive" by examiners. |

Nik Strangelove : photographer
Born in London in 1970 Nik grew up in Oman and Singapore. He began taking photographs when he was 16. After studying photography at college he worked as a freelance photographer in London, where he worked for magazines and newspapers. In 2000 he moved to Cornwall to concentrate on personal projects.

Krista Taylor : artist
Krista studied at Falmouth College of Arts and she is currently
arranging UK exhibitions for 2005. Her large canvasses and stunning
use of colour offer a spectacular framework for her exploration
of the human form, in which she focuses on the female figure.

DM Thomas was born in Cornwall in 1935. After reading English at New College, Oxford, he became a teacher until he became a full-time writer. His novels include The Flute-Player, Ararat, Swallow, Sphinx, Summit, Flying into Love and Eating Pavlova. His third novel, 'The White Hotel', was a worldwide bestseller, translated into 28 languages. He has also published a memoir, a biography of Solzhenitsyn, several volumes of poetry and translations of Pushkin and Anna Akhmatova. He now lives in Cornwall. |

features his take on the beauty of breasts.

Tracey has been producing powerful portraits and luscious landscapes since graduating from Northbrook College in 2000. She frequently uses either screenprint or collage as a background to her acrylic paintings, giving them a distinctive style. Based in Worthing, West Sussex, Tracey is a founder member of RAG, and recent exhibitions with them have included Brighton and Horsham.

Nicky van der Bij : journalist
Having started and built her journalistic career in Cornwall, Nicky
is editor of Cornwall Today, a glossy lifestyle magazine for
Cornwall. She said: "I think it’s great that such a worthwhile
project as this, the Uplifting Book of Breasts, has sprung up from
our very own beautiful county and I’m delighted to join the celebration
of the pleasures, and sometimes more painful experiences, of being
guardian to a pair of my very own." |
